Welcome to the SailingMetrics League - an innovative sailing competition that's free and open to everyone, no matter what, where or when you sail.

How does it work?

When you are attending an official sailing competition you can enable tracking with the SailingMetrics app. For every recorded race, the app tries to identify the wind direction and fits a linear upwind/downwind course to your track. Your race is scored based on the average speed over the course.

If you are sailing alone or with friends -without a race committee- you can define a competition area on a map and the app will lay a race course with a virtual start line and upwind mark. Again, the average speed over the course is used to enter the leaderboard.

How to get started

Create Your Account
Sign up on SailingMetrics for free.
Prepare your smartphone
Bring a waterproof smartphone or protect your current phone with a case. Compatible devices include waterproof models like Ulefone or any phone with proper protection (currently Android only).
Download the App
Install the SailingMetrics app, available on Google Play.
Set Sail and Race
- When you're ready to sail, bring your smartphone with you. Make sure it's secure.
- Open the app, log in, and start a new league race.
- Follow the app's step-by-step guide:
  - Define your competition area.
  - Perform a calibration to estimate wind direction and your upwind/downwind speeds.
  - Complete a ~ 30-minute course set by the app. A countdown sequence will mark the start of your race.
Submit Your Results
After finishing the race, your results are automatically uploaded and scored. Check the skipper ranking to see where you stand. Congratulations - you've just completed your first SailingMetrics race!
