SailingMetrics Documentation

You are more than welcome to use our platform to run your sailing regatta or competition. At the moment we provide different options on how you can create and manage your sailing competition:

Live Metrics
A real-time dashboard in the SailingMetrics app that displays VMG, SOG, COG, heel angle, and compass heading simultaneously. Each metric is averaged over a configurable integration period and can be announced aloud via text-to-speech so you can focus on sailing without looking at your phone.
Tacking Training
A guided tacking session that measures the height gained or lost on every tack using GPS data. A spoken countdown tells you when to tack, and after each manoeuvre the app announces how many metres you gained or lost. A map and VMG chart are shown for every tack so you can review your technique in detail.
Create and manage sailing competitions
With SailingMetrics you can easily create and manage a sailing competition. Via web interface or through our app you can easily create a competition along with competition classes, entries and races. Various rating systems are supported such as Portsmouth Yardstick, Yardstick or simple One-Design. The results of your sailing competition can be easily published and shared on our website. We also offer csv file download so that you can share or apply your own scoring methods.
SailingMetrics app for time tracking
The SailingMetrics app significantly reduces the pain of paperwork when running a sailing competition: Instead of manually recording and entering finish times into a computer system, our app easily records finish time for sailors with the push of a button. Every race finish can then easily be matched with an entry of your competition and various scoring methods such as Yardstick can be applied.
Sailing competitions with GPS tracking, streaming and broadcasting
Assuming that the fleet is equipped with a smartphone running our sailing app GPS-based tracking can be used to automatically record sailing time. This mode also allows for streaming of your sailing competition so that other people can have a live view on your sailing race.
